HEY THERE - I’m AARON NELSON

A creative strategist, visual storyteller, and digital world-builder based in Atlanta, Georgia. I’m currently earning my BFA in Social Strategy & Management with a minor in Film & Television at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). But honestly, my story started long before that—back in Renton, Washington, where I was born, and spent my early years in Southeast Seattle before moving to Alexandria, Virginia, a historic “suburb” of Washington, D.C., nestled along the Potomac River. It was here that I spent the majority of my formative years, and where I found my passion for storytelling.

My entry into entertainment began young. I was obsessed with television and dreamed of acting, though social anxiety led me to audition for non-speaking roles. After dozens of failed auditions, I landed a role in an indie horror short film that made the film festival circuit. From there, I performed in school musicals and regional theater productions before being cast as the lead child in an episode of Discovery Channel's Evil Twins (now streaming on Apple TV+ and Discovery+). That opened doors to two more roles on Evil Kin (also on Investigation Discovery), national commercials for Toyota, M&T Bank, and Crest, as well as voice work for Giant Whole Foods and modeling for Pepsi's Mug Root Beer. One of the highlights during this period was working on set with James Spader during the first season of NBC’s The Blacklist, and even getting my mother, sister, and brother hired as extras.

While working as a child actor, I spent time on commercial sets creating short, absurdist films with other young actors between takes—directing, editing, and uploading them myself. This sparked a passion that led me to my high school’s Television and Media Production Academy. As a sophomore, after my final acting job (a national Crest commercial), I enrolled in the program and was eventually named Student of the Year. I became a Teaching Assistant and interned producing video content for local businesses and the school system. I graduated near the top of my class with Virginia’s Advanced Studies Diploma, and was an ambassador to both the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. I was also dual-enrolled with Northern Virginia Community College and Savannah College of Art and Design, beginning my college coursework before high school graduation.

Just before high school began, I launched Epic Universal (also known as @epicuniverseupdates), a digital magazine and online platform covering Universal Orlando's theme parks. Since its founding, I’ve grown the account to over fifty thousand followers and generated tens of millions of impressions across platforms. My themed entertainment work led me to cover major industry press events, including AwesomeCon and the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo (IAAPA). Through this, I pursued formal education in Themed Entertainment Design through Purdue University, where I’m currently completing certification alongside my degree at SCAD.

While still in high school, I spent three consecutive summers developing, writing, and producing original screenplays at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia—the same backlot where Spider-Man: No Way Home, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Loki were filmed. Later, I was hired by Trilith’s vendor, the Georgia Film Academy, as a Production Team Leader for their summer filmmaking programs.

During the pandemic, I joined the BuildTheEarth project—an effort to digitally reconstruct the planet in one-to-one scale using Minecraft. I served first as Social Media Coordinator and later as Public Relations Manager, leading a team of forty-eight and overseeing communications for a community of over two hundred fifty thousand. Under my leadership, our social media presence brought in over eighty million impressions, including collaborations with major YouTube creators like MrBeast and Unspeakable. I also built the first Minecraft recreation of Super Nintendo World Japan—a digital map that went on to become the first Minecraft world ever sent into space aboard Peregrine Mission One, as part of VLC Media Player’s Lunar Library mission.

After that, I founded SCADMC, a Minecraft-based digital twin of the Savannah College of Art and Design’s Atlanta campus. The project features full-scale recreations of academic buildings and dorms, along with interactive features like quests and party games. The project has earned critical acclaim and local press coverage, and has become a popular campus engagement tool.

When I’m not busy with projects, you can usually find me in a coffee shop, probably scribbling ideas in a notebook or lost in a creative daydream. I’m all about finding balance—whether it’s through playing piano, diving into a new video game, or just taking a walk to clear my mind. I believe in the power of small moments to spark big ideas, and I always try to stay curious. If you ever want to chat about creative projects, life, or what’s been keeping you inspired lately, I’d love to connect. I’m all for building something meaningful together, whether it’s through work or a casual conversation. Let’s make something that feels as good as it looks!
